Antique Louis XVI-Style Sheet Music Cabinet — Marquetry, Brass Gallery, Marble Top

This stunning antique Louis XVI-style cabinet, is a fine example of French craftsmanship from the late 19th to early 20th century.

Featuring intricate geometric marquetry in chevron and diamond patterns, this piece is finished with a beautiful marble top encircled by a brass gallery—an elegant detail that prevents items from slipping. The cabinet's interior provides ample storage, concealed by expertly crafted doors , a tambour door and a drawer with finely detailed brass hardware.

In good condition, left rear foot is damaged, as shown in picture.

An antique French sheet-music cabinet — a meuble à partitions, also called a casier à musique. Behind the tambour front the interior is divided by tall vertical partitions: the narrow upright slots that hold bound scores straight and flat instead of letting them curl, exactly what a 19th-century music room needed. Cabinets built for that one purpose are far scarcer than ordinary vitrines, and the marquetry, the brass gallery and the marble put this one at the luxury end of the type.
